Ryanair cabin luggage sizes & allowance

Good news, every Ryanair passenger still gets to bring one small underseat bag for free! As of 2026, the size allowance is 20 x 30 x 20 cm.

Your cabin bag allowance depends on the type of ticket you’ve booked. We’ve broken down the different cabin baggage options below to help you understand exactly what you can bring, to avoid any unexpected fees at the airport:

Non-priority passengers (basic fare)

When you book the basic fare, you’re allowed one small bag only and it must fit under-the-seat in front of you. If you exceed the size allowance, you may be charged a gate bag fee when boarding.

  • Small bag size: 40 x 30 x 20cm.

  • Must fit under the seat in front of you.

  • Great for packing travel essentials, technology or spare clothes.

Priority and 2 cabin bags

With this fare, you are allowed a small under the seat bag, as well as a 10kg cabin bag or small suitcase, which will be stored in the overhead locker. This ticket allows you to board first and secure a good space for your suitcase.

  • Small bag size: 40 x 30 x 20cm (must fit under the seat in front of you).

  • Cabin bag size: 55 x 40 x 20cm, up to 10kg (stored in overhead locker).

The third option is adding a 10kg or 20kg check-in bag. This allows you to bring an under-the-seat bag with you, but drop off hold luggage at the check-in desk before you go through security.

20kg check-in bag:

  • Maximum size: 80 x 120 x 120cm.

  • Passengers can book up to three checked bags of 20kg on their booking.

23kg check-in bag:

  • Maximum size: 80 x 120 x 120cm.

  • Passengers can purchase one checked bag weighing 23kg on their booking.
