- Although they both come from sheep, lambswool and sheep’s wool each offer distinct qualities. Lambswool is typically sourced from a lamb’s first shearing and is exceptionally soft and smooth — making it ideal for close-to-skin items such as scarves and knitwear. On the other hand, sheepswool, (taken from adult sheep) is made with a tougher fiber composition that’s more suited to heavy-duty outerwear and blankets.
